3 Facts You May Not Know About Invisalign

Everyone wants a picture-perfect smile. Unfortunately, not everyone has perfect teeth. Some of us need help to achieve the smiles of our dreams.

Fortunately, dental technology has provided a few options for those of us who need a little help. Everyone knows about braces. This traditional option has been around for a while. They get the job done, but they can take years to perfect your smile, and they force patients to have a mouthful of metal.

Invisalign® is a more advanced, convenient option. It uses clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth, and the treatment time is less than that of traditional braces. Misty Henne, DMD, and Chloe Chu, DDS, of Cherry Family Dental are experienced dentists who use Invisalign to help their patients get great smiles.

What can Invisalign treat?

Invisalign can treat a number of dental issues, including:

Three amazing things about Invisalign

1. Invisalign uses the latest technology

Invisalign represents new technology at its best. Once you have partnered with your dentist and reviewed your goals, your dentist will use a special 3-D scanner to take digital images of your teeth. These images will be used to create a series of aligners, each slightly adjusted. By the time you take out your last one, you will have the smile you desire.

The aligners are made from SmartTrack® material, a professional-grade plastic. They’re clear, removable, and custom made to fit your mouth exactly.

2. Invisalign is convenient

You should wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day, but you can remove them to eat, brush, and floss. Unlike traditional braces, there are no restrictions on what you can eat or drink with Invisalign. You can even take out your aligners for special occasions.

3. Invisalign saves you time

Compared with conventional braces, Invisalign saves you time. Once you get your sets of aligners, you continue your treatment at home. Every two weeks or so, you take out one set and replace it with another. You only need to visit Cherry Family Dental every six weeks or so. This will save you from having to make multiple trips to the office.

How long your treatment takes will depend on your situation, but many patients complete their treatments in just 12 months.
